Ten-year-old Bastian hides from his evil classmates in a shop, where he finds an ancient book that its owner tells him is dangerous to read. But Bastian can't resist and begins to read the gripping tale and glimpse the realm of Fantasia being destroyed by the all-consuming Nothingness. The ruler of the empire summons the brave boy Atreus to save the empire, but Bastian discovers that he himself has become part of the story, and it is he who can save Fantasia with the help of the fairy-tale creatures.
