Lisa is a senior in high school, so she has to start working slowly. She gets a job in a clothing store where she has to behave according to strict etiquette. She is a newcomer to the team and her colleagues give her all sorts of menial tasks. However, in time, everyone discovers that she is very bright and well-read and will not just play the role of a wife in life. They start inviting her to adult company and she grows into an independent woman through these experiences. A story from the society of 1950s Australia, when the country is full of immigrants and women and men still had to follow their gender roles.
