Mildred Haynes' (Frances McDormand) daughter was murdered. And as the investigation has dragged on for several months to no avail, she decides to take action. She puts up three billboards at the entrance to town with highly controversial messages addressed to the respected local police chief (Woody Harrelson). This unusual act begins a battle between Mildred and the law enforcement agents. When another cop (Sam Rockwell), an immature mama's boy with a penchant for violence, gets involved, the battle between the local police department and the lonely, wronged and, most importantly, enraged warrior is set to kick into high gear.
