Beautiful car racer Larita (Jessica Biel) meets young Englishman John (Ben Barnes) in France and a wedding quickly follows. However, the arrival at John's mansion in England changes the passionate relationship somewhat: John's uptight mother does not take kindly to the American, nor do her stubborn daughters, John's sisters. The only one Larita finds favour and understanding with is her peculiar father (Colin Firth). But the middle ground of American free-spiritedness and English stodginess is beyond Larita's powers. Especially when a pesky Chihuahua gets in her way.
