Berlín. Současnost. Letní den, v němž minuty rozhodují o lásce, životě a smrti. Lole a Mannimu je něco přes dvacet a jsou milenci. Manni pracuje jako kurýr pro pochybného překupníka s auty. Poslední akce však nedopadne podle plánu. Vletí v metru do náruče revizorům a ztratí igelitku se 100.000,- DM, které si má šéf za dvacet minut vyzvednout. Zoufalý Manni volá Lole. Co si počít? Když ty peníze nesežene, zemře. Lolin mozek pracuje naplno. Má dvacet minut na to, aby sehnala sto tisíc, dvacet minut na záchranu Manniho života. Lola vyrazí z domu do ulic Berlína vyběhat sobě a Mannimu život, sehnat nějak někde sto tisíc. Lola běží ne jako, ale o život.
