Cinderella has probably never had it so bad. In A Cinderella Story, a modern and humorous take on the classic fairy tale, Sam, a high school senior (Hilary Duff), must dance to the tune of her selfish stepmother Fiona (Jennifer Coolidge) and serve her two malicious stepsisters, who treat her more like a servant than a member of The Family. Sam has a big dream - to get into Princeton University, but in addition to her studies, she also has to work hard, so her social life isn't great. However, while chatting online, she comes across a mysterious, charming prince from the same school with whom she gets along very well. But when it turns out that her anonymous cyber soulmate is the super-popular and very attractive American football player Austin Ames (Chad Michael Murray), Sam panics and flees back to reality, losing her cell phone while running away from the prom. Fearing that Austin will turn away from her when he finds out who his dream princess really is, she tries to thwart all his attempts to reveal her identity. Will Sam let her fear control her, or will she find the courage to be herself and embark on the life journey she has always wanted?
