Set in post-war London, it tells the story of Ada Harris, who earns her living by cleaning the homes of her wealthy neighbours. Although modest and resigned to her fate as a widow, she has one, all the more intense wish: to one day buy a dress by French designer Christian Dior. She comes closer to her dream when she is paid compensation for her fallen husband. She knows exactly what this small fortune will be exchanged for: a plane ticket to Paris, Dior and a dress. But it is clear that this plain-spoken Londoner will cause a stir in the world of posh Dior ladies, to say the least.
